Why did Warner Bros. Discovery cancel Batgirl but not The Flash?
On August 2, multiple stories claimed that Warner Bros. Discovery had canceled the Batgirl movie, which was reportedly nearing completion and in post-production. Rumors also indicated that no platform will be used. For the alleged distribution of the $90 million film (meaning neither its HBO Max platform nor a theatrical release).

The Flash is still not canceled?
A tweet from Jimmy Folino (@MrNiceGuy513) titled “WhoDey. BLM, StopAsianHate” raised the question of why The Flash, starring Ezra Miller. It was not canceled despite starring an actress of color, Batgirl. Ezra Miller rapes three women, kidnaps another and remains at large, but WB/DC will not cancel The Flash, according to the tweet. Nothing attractive.

The project’s hiring of directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah was revealed in May last year. It was planned to debut at the time as DC’s first HBO Max original production. Leslie Grace played Barbara Gordon and the titular superhero in the film, and Michael Keaton, a seasoned Hollywood actor, returned to play Bruce Wayne/Batman. The antagonist known as Firefly was also planned to be played by Brendan Fraser.
Batgirl will incur additional marketing expenses
While this was going on, outlets such as Variety reported that the studio’s new management believed that Batgirl would incur additional marketing expenses as a result of her merger with Discovery. The new administration may have been able to secure multiple projects for Ben Affleck to reprise his role as Batman. Affleck will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom before appearing in the upcoming The Flash movie, according to Aquaman star Jason Momoa.
The fact that DC is willing to cancel Batgirl, a movie that has had ZERO production issues, just to supposedly save a little money, but hasn’t canceled The Flash even though the production of that movie is a total nightmare and its main star is toxic…it’s genuinely weird.
