Bhavani Devi has been one of the most popular female athletes in India. She is also known as the rising star of our country. She had broken many records and had recently been the first Indian female fencer to qualify for the Olympics after qualifying for the Tokyo 2021 Olympics herself. This is truly a great achievement for our country.

Many of the people would be surprised if they knew that she is only 27 years old. She currently lives in the city of Chennai. The game of fencing is where competitors compete against each other in a six by forty sized ring. Points are recorded electronically and a point is scored for a touch/sword contact with the opponent.

Bhavani Devi had achieved many achievements in her career. But everyone knows that this is just a start. She currently has a world position of 36 in fencers. The first achievement that she achieved was at the 2009 Commonwealth games, where she received a bronze medal. These commonwealth games were held in Malaysia.

She had set more goals to accomplish. The following year, at the Asian Fencing Championships, she again secured third place to receive the bronze medal. She was not satisfied with the same and as a result, she improved a lot. At the 2012 Commonwealth games, she achieved her first silver medal in fencing games.

She had always said that she would never stop the grind until she got the gold. She kept working hard and worked consecutively. At the 2014 Asian Championships, she was again limited to the silver medal. But still, she was able to maintain her sportsmanship. She kept working against the growing competition to dominate her and win gold.

Bhavani Devi was the first lady in the under 23 category to win the silver medal. She was the first Indian woman to do so. Currently, at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, she had been eliminated in the second round of the tournament, but she played more than the best.
