Mellencamp’s method was criticized by one of his followers
“I’m being true to my path,” Teddi Mellencamp wrote in response to the criticism. Do you want me to lie and say that the loose skin on my neck is gone? That’s not my personality. I’m not the person to follow if you only want to follow those who show themselves through a filtered version of themselves.”
He went on to say that the surgery had nothing to do with “doing everything possible in his life” and that he would continue to help others achieve their goals.
“Do you appreciate me being honest about my path or do you prefer that I just pretend I didn’t accomplish anything?” he asked the followers of him.

Teddi Mellencamp had a test to see if he had melanoma on his back
The operation comes two months after the actress had a skin cancer scare when she had a test to see if she had a melanoma on her back.
“I had been avoiding [getting my skin checked] for a long time because of my own anxiety,” Mellencamp said at the time. “But when [Kyle Richards] he saw my back and it had changed color again, he immediately took me to the doctor who said it looked like melanoma and did a big excision,” Mellencamp said.
She delivered the excellent news a few days later that her melanoma was “in situ,” meaning the cancer cells were localized to that spot on her skin and hadn’t spread any further.
