TikTok user jsymoned shared a video of the rookie rapper from Bronx, New York giving the crowd her debut single titled ‘Munch (Feelin’ U)’. In the video, Ice Spice can be seen performing center stage as a generally unenthusiastic crowd looks on. Halfway through the video, she bends over and starts twerking, then goes back to trying to keep up with the backing track. Houston was a tough crowd for Ice Spice, jsymoned commented in the posted clip.

The video has since gone viral and Ice Spice has received criticism for her performance via social media. ‘NEVER try to play a show in Houston without a catalog lol at least 3 songs, one person posted about the video on Twitter. Another person called out Ice Spice for twerking instead of rapping. Her signature move doesn’t work, may get washed, she tweeted. Someone else wouldn’t base the blame for the small backlash solely on Ice Ice Spice’s performance. “Houston certainly wasn’t an ‘extreme group’ for Ice Spice,” the Twitter user shared. “Southern people don’t like New York City instructional music like that, myself included. Ice Spice seems to respond to the negative reviews of her set. On Friday, September 30, she shared a photo on Twitter of herself at the club that night in Houston. She captioned the photograph, “Pretty paid and no hassles.”

In a video of the performance, the rapper can be seen having a hard time keeping up with the backing track. Part of the way to the song, he abandoned all expectations and started twerking. Ice Spice has had a meteoric rise in popularity following the release of his single Munch (Feelin’ U) in August. Ice Spice will continue to test his mettle on the road, with upcoming shows in Delaware, New York and New Jersey.
