Conor McGregor is gearing up for his acting debut in the remake of the 1989 action movie Road House. The film will star Jake Gyllenhaal in the title role.

Gyllenhaal will play the role of Dalton, a former MMA fighter who lands a new job as a bouncer at a roadside bar in the Florida Keys. But he ‘soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise’.

Also, McGregor’s character is being kept under wraps for now, however, it has been reported that he will have a major role in the latest iteration of the ’80s action flick.

The film will premiere on Amazon Prime, however a release date has yet to be confirmed.

Regardless, Amazon Studios took to Twitter to introduce McGregor as a cast member in their upcoming movie.

They wrote: “Wrestling icon Conor McGregor expands his storied career on film to join Jake Gyllenhaal in the reimagining of the beloved classic, Road House.”

Additionally, the Irishman’s spokeswoman, Karen J. Kessler, released a statement to address the news.

She said: “Conor McGregor is very excited to expand his storied career to Hollywood and join Jake Gyllenhaal in this reimagining of a beloved classic ‘Road House’.”

He further added, “While wrestling remains his main focus, this is the start of another successful venture into the McGregor empire.” He is eager to start filming.

Filming will begin at the end of August in the Dominican Republic.
