Twain has previously revealed that she contracted the bacterial disease after she was bitten by a tick while horseback riding in Norfolk, Virginia, in 2003.

The infection left the country superstar with nerve damage to her vocal cords. She temporarily lost her voice, but she feared she would never be able to act again.

Twain said in his latest rock documentary: ‘My symptoms were pretty scary because before I was diagnosed, I was very dizzy on stage. I was losing my balance, I was afraid of falling off the stage.

The 56-year-old singer added: “I was having these blackouts of very, very, very milliseconds, but regularly, every minute or every 30 seconds.”

The queen of country pop further admitted, “My voice was never the same again.”

Twain later recalled: ‘I thought I had lost my voice forever. I thought that was it [and] I would never, ever sing again.

The You’re Still The One hitmaker underwent several invasive throat surgeries after she developed the voice disorder dysphonia.

In 2019, Twain confessed in an interview with Extra: “I had to have an operation that was very intense and it’s an open throat operation, very different from a vocal cord operation.” I had to have two of them, so it was really, really, really hard and I survived that, which means I survived emotionally, and I’m ready to move on.

Shania Twain has ended her 15-year marriage to Grammy-winning producer Robert ‘Mutt’ Lange after learning of his affair with her secretary and friend Marie-Anne Thiébaud.

She said in the documentary, “In that quest to determine what was causing this lack of control with my voice and this change in my voice, I was facing a divorce.” My husband leaves me for another woman.

Twain continued: ‘Now I’m at another low point. And I just don’t see any point in continuing with a music career.

In a strange turn of events, she began dating Marie-Anne’s ex-husband Frédéric Thiébaud in 2010 over their shared grief. They were married a year later.
