Queen Sugar Season 7 Release Date: Ava DuVernay is Returning!
Ava DuVernay (Selma, A Wrinkle in Time) is set to direct the series finale of Queen Sugar, returning one of her original voices to the director’s chair. Based on the book of the same name by Natalie Baszile, the OWN series made its debut in 2016. The show’s creator is DuVernay, while Oprah Winfrey serves as executive producer.
Over the years, the filmmaker has continued to work on Queen Sugar and has written additional episodes. At the end of this year, the eighth and final season of the project will debut, which will add seven in total. Since only women are chosen to direct each episode, OWN has made an effort to cater the series to first-time female directors. Current showrunner Shaz Bennett will direct an episode for the first time in the upcoming season. Patricia Cardoso, Stacey Muhammad and Kat Candler will also be in charge of the final episodes.
What are Ava DuVernay? It’s work?

DMZ, directed by DuVernay for HBO Max, also recently debuted. The series, starring Rosario Dawson, centers on a doctor (Dawson) searching for her son in the harsh political climate of the present.
