Prince William and Kate Middleton are set to take on new roles in the royal family after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

On September 8, 2022, the royal family confirmed the news from Queen Elizabeth II. Following her death, members of the British royal family are given new titles and roles.

However, Prince William will inherit the title of Duke of Cornwall and Cambridge, his wife Kate Middleton will become Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge.

Additionally, the royal couple’s official username bios have also been updated following the death of Queen Elizabeth.

Their most recent biographies read: “The Official Account of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge and the Royal Foundation, based at Kensington Palace.”

Also, Prince William and Kate Middleton were previously known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The parents of three will be named Prince and Princess of Wales. The title was previously held by Williams’ father, Charles, and his late mother, Diana.

Members of the British royal family receive new titles

Prince William’s father, King Charles III, ascended to the British throne following the death of Queen Elizabeth. He was previously called Prince Charles.

Also, Charles’s second wife, Camilla, will become queen consort upon her husband’s accession. She was previously known as the Duchess of Cornwall.

The late queen announced the new title change during her Platinum Jubilee in February 2022.

She wrote at the time: ‘And when, in the fullness of time, my son Carlos becomes king, I know you will give him and his wife Camila the same support you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as queen consort while she continues in her loyal service.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and his wife, former American actress Meghan Markle, will keep their titles as Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Regardless, his son Archie and his daughter Lilibet have a chance to become a prince and princess in the future.

However, Harry, 37, continues to reside outside of Los Angeles with his wife and family. Meanwhile, William, the eldest son, is now the heir to the British throne. He continues to lead a traditional British royal life with his wife and his family.
