Nicki Minaj’s Dad’s Killer Received Light Jail Sentence After Hit-and-Run

Murderer of Nicki Minaj’s father sentenced to 1 year in prison
Charles Polevich, the driver responsible for the death of Nicki Minaj’s father, Robert Maraj, was sentenced on Wednesday, August 3, 2022.
The older man was also ordered to pay a $5,000 fine with his license suspended for six months.
Polevich pleaded guilty to the hit-and-run case in May 2022. Regardless, he was charged with a felony charge for leaving the scene of the accident. The 71-year-old man was also booked for tampering with physical evidence.
Polevich was originally facing seven years in prison, but Nassau County Judge Howard Sturim decided not to go too hard on him, as he has no criminal record.
The Guam native struck and killed Maraj with his car in February 2021 when the latter was driving around Long Island. Additionally, Polevich initially stopped and, despite noticing a seriously injured man, fled the scene.
However, he turned himself in to officers nearly five days after the crash when he was charged with multiple felonies, including fleeing the crash site.
Detective Lt. Stephen Fitzpatrick of the Nassau County Police Department addressed the case at a news conference at the time.
He mentioned: ‘(Polevich) got out of the car, looked at the deceased, got into his car and made a conscious decision to leave rather than dial 911 and call an ambulance for the man. He went home and hid the vehicle from him.

Nicki Minaj fans were not impressed by the court’s ruling. They took to social media to express their frustration.
One fan said: ‘1 year you have 2 joking attempted murder first degree murder and second degree manslaughter. I’m not a judge, but don’t think I should be locked up for at least 10 years #DiosT.’
While another added: ‘If my parents were murdered and the murderer gets a year in prison. I would definitely be waiting for that person’s release date to get my justice.’
This is sick, only 1 year for one person’s wording. Nickis’s father was a father of 3, husband to his wife, brother to someone and son to someone and all the person gets for saying it is 1 year in prison? You deserve life in prison for taking a life!
