Eddie Mekka was born on June 14, 1952 in Worcester, Massachusetts, USA. His real name was Edward Rudolph Mekjian. He was the son of an Italian mother and an Armenian father. His father’s name was Vaughn Mekijan and his mother’s name was Mariam. His father was a World War II veteran and his mother was a press. Mekka was a famous American actor. In the 1970s, he used to teach young people to sing at the Worcester County Light Opera, Massachusetts. He gained popularity for the role of Carmine ‘The Big Ragoo’ Ragusa on the sitcom “Laverne and Shirley” in 1976. Mekka starred in the series until 1983, after which the series was cancelled. Throughout his career, he has starred in around 50 TV shows and movies.
In 1983, Eddie Mekka married actress DeLee Lively. They were together from 1983 to 1992. Later, in 1994, he married Yvonne Marie Grace. The couple had a daughter named Mia. Later, he moved to Los Angeles. Mekka was nominated for a Tony Award for acting on Broadway in The Lieutenant. He graduated from Burncoat High School and later attended Berklee College of Music.
His recent television credits include The Bold and Beautiful, 24, The Suite Life of Zack, and Cody. Eddie Mekka also played Detective Murdoch in “Catch Me If You Can,” a Fox TV movie. In November 2008, he worked with his “Laverne and Shirley” co-star Cindy Williams in a regional production of the comedy “It Had To Be You”. In 2010, from April 29 to June 20, Mekka starred in Fiddler on the Roof playing the role of Tevye at the John W. Engman Theater in Northport, New York.

Mekjian said that Eddie Mekka loved making people laugh and that he was a funny guy. He would be missed and everyone is proud of him for his accomplishments on television.
The cause of death is not confirmed by anyone. According to the information, the actor was alone in his house when the police found him on November 27 in Newhall, California. But yes, six months ago, Mekka went to the hospital, when she was diagnosed with a blood clot.
He would always be remembered and missed for his amazing work.
