Johnny Depp to direct first movie in 25 years with Al Pacino as co-producer

Johnny Depp will return as director next year for a biopic about an Italian artist named Amedeo Modigliani.
Here is everything you need to know.
Johnny Depp will direct the first film in 25 years
The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news that Johnny Depp is preparing behind the camera for an upcoming movie simply titled, Modigliani.
Depp revealed during the press conference: “The saga of the life of Mr. Modigliani is one that I am incredibly honored and truly honored to bring to the screen.”
He added, “It was a life of great hardship, but ultimately triumph…a universally human story that all viewers can relate to.”
The film is Depp’s latest effort to relaunch his career following his controversial libel lawsuit against his ex-wife and actress Amber Heard.
Although several Hollywood companies had shunned Depp amid domestic violence allegations, he continued to work with European production companies.
Additionally, the 59-year-old star will next be seen in Jeanne du Barry by French filmmaker Maïwenn. The historical romance film will revolve around a royal concubine, while Depp will play the character of controversial King Louis XV.

Johnny Depp to join forces with Al Pacino for Modigliani
According to recent reports, Johnny Depp will be working alongside Al Pacino and Barry Navidi for Modigliani.
Additionally, Pacino and Navidi will serve as co-producers for the upcoming film.
Pacino and Navidi have previously worked together on various projects since 2004. They have teamed up for 2004’s The Merchant of Venice, 2011’s Wilde Salome, and lastly, 2013’s Salome. Thus, this film will mark another collaboration between them.
Navidi spoke about his and Pacino’s involvement with Modigliani during a press release.
He said: ‘This project has been very close to Al’s heart. Al introduced me to the work, Modigliani, many years ago and I instantly fell in love with it.’
Navidi continued: “This is a slice of Modi’s life and not a biography. It has been a dream of mine to work with Johnny again – he is a true artist with an incredible vision to bring this great story to the screen.”
The film will reportedly be based on the work of Dennis McIntyre. It will be a retelling of the life story of Amedeo Modigliani, who received glory posthumously.
Amedeo lived in Paris during the 20th century and is considered a disappointment. His work became a success after his death in 1920.
