Also, Voight (Jason Beghe) visits him at the airport to say goodbye. He also offers Halstead any job he prefers.
However, Halstead responds by saying that he wants to be like his old boss, which is a problem.
He says, ‘It’s like you’ve always told me: I’m not, and I shouldn’t try.’
Regardless, the two shook hands with Halstead who was leaving Chicago to embark on his new life.
Why did Jesse Lee Soffer leave the Chicago PD?
In August it was confirmed that Jesse Lee Soffer is set to leave the Chicago Police Department after ten seasons. In addition, he issued a statement to address his departure.
He said: ‘I want to thank the amazing fans for their unwavering support over the last 10 years.’
Soffer then went on to show his gratitude to his fellow cast members and crew. He also added: “Dick Wolf and everyone at Wolf Entertainment, Peter Jankowski, Matt Olmstead, Derek Haas, Michael Brandt, Rick Eid, Gwen Sigan, NBC, Universal Television.”
He further stated, “Creating this hour-long drama week after week has been a labor of love on the part of everyone who touches the show.” I will always be proud of my time as a Det. Jay Halstead.
Soffer also took to his Twitter account to address his departure.
He wrote: ‘This is sad but true. I just want all the fans to know how grateful I am. You are the reason we do it! It has been an honour. I love you all.’
