Drake Geiger died: How did the high school football player die?

Drake Geiger was a Nebeaska High School football player. His sudden death has shocked everyone. The 16-year-old died during practice on Tuesday, that is, on August 10.

Scott Hoffman, Drake’s father, said he suddenly collapsed when he stopped for a drink after his workout.

A student and a soccer player in Nebraska Omaha South School, Drake Geiger was excited to play soccer this season since he missed the previous one. “He didn’t care if he was playing or on the sidelines. He just wanted to be part of the team and be around all the guys,” his father said.

Last season, he missed the game because his doctor forgot to sign his physical forms. The teenager died a day before he was to get his driver’s license on Wednesday.

Father Scott received a call from Drake’s trainer around 4:20 p.m. He told him that Drake collapsed during practice and was now being taken to UNMC.

Medical staff informed Scott that his son’s internal body temperature was around 122 degrees. Therefore, the doctors said that he died from heat stroke.

“After 30 to 40 minutes, the doctor came in and said that the body was very overheated and his organs were working very hard, and that he was very, very sick. They told me it was not a good situation,” Drake’s father said.

Everyone is so shocked by his sudden death, his fans took to Twitter to pay tribute to him. One of those tweets read: “Rest in peace DrakeGeiger, our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends.”
