Cody Rhodes wins ESPY for WWE Moment of the Year 2022

The 2022 ESPY Award for Best WWE Moment went to Cody Rhodes.

One of the four finalists for the award was Rhodes’ return to WWE at WrestleMania 38. The Undertaker’s WWE Hall of Fame induction, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s devastating Stunners at WrestleMania 38, and the successful Big E. Money in the Bank cash to win the WWE Championship were the other contenders.

Rhodes was declared the winner on July 20 during the awards show.

The website said that Cody Rhodes’ appearance at WrestleMania “rocked the WWE Universe” and he is currently winning the WWE Moment of the Year award at the ESPYs. Rhodes announced the award as he presented the ESPY for Best Athlete Comeback.

The American Nightmare won the public vote over 15 other contenders to become WWE’s 2022 Moment of the Year. The Undertaker’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin rampaging at WrestleMania and Big E cashing in the WWE title on Raw were the other three candidates.

WWE Global Ambassador Titus O’Neil shone on the red carpet after being nominated for the Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award last year. Rhodes wasn’t the only WWE representative in Los Angeles.

The Showcase of the Immortals match between Rhodes and Seth “Freakin” Rollins produced several memorable moments and earned the event an ESPY Award.

In a WWE digital exclusive, Rhodes spoke about the news and hinted that he will win the award again the following year by pulling off another spectacular moment.

After his return, in which he defeated Seth Rollins, Rhodes instantly became a huge star on WWE RAW. At WrestleMania Backlash in WWE Hell in a Cell, he defeated Rollins. Rhodes tore his pectoral tendon before Game 3, but persevered despite the setback. The following week, he had surgery and has been out ever since.
