California Covid Cases Rise Again Here’s Why

In California, the Covid 19 positivity rate has started to increase again just like in 2020. In the last two weeks, almost Corona Virus cases increased by more than 141% in San Francisco. Although it has a 70% vaccinated population, it is one of the best among the big cities.

Despite the fact that the vaccinated population in California hovered around 53%. Still, it was not enough to prevent the spread of the Delta variant.

Reasons behind the spread of Covid 19 in California

Well, the sudden increase in cases in California was totally expected due to their inappropriate behavior towards Covid prevention. Restrictions in the state were relaxed. Therefore, people began to socialize like in the old days.

This irresponsible behavior, i.e. Not social distancing and ignoring masks, is the main cause of spread. Andrew Noymer, professor of public health at the University of California he said, “Delta is lightning, and the relaxation of the constraint is the wind.”

While Dr. Kristen Bibbins-Domingo called the Delta variant a “game changer.” She further added that this Variant is so contagious that cases have been increasing very fast. To fight this variant, we need to increase the vaccination rate to vaccinate 95% of the population.

However, fully vaccinated people are at lower risk. There is less chance of them being hospitalized. According to CDC data, 97% of hospitalized people are not vaccinated.

From this we can infer that with high vaccination rates, hospitalization cases will automatically reduce.

Precautionary measures

This Delta variant is extremely contagious and can even infect fully vaccinated people. Although, the chances would be less and it would not be dangerous. But still, you will have to follow some precautions.

The precautions are simple. At first, follow the rules of social distancing. Also, avoid public gatherings, especially indoors like restaurants. The second is very important, that is, wearing masks. Masks prevent the spread of the virus to a great extent.

It is very important to follow these measures. If we follow them now, together we can stop the spread of this virus. It is time to be responsible, otherwise neither these waves nor these variants will stop.
