Amber Heard gave a detailed account of an alleged attack she suffered at the hands of her ex-husband Johnny Depp. At her ongoing libel trial with Depp, the actress took the stand and claimed the incident left her with a bloody lip.
Heard’s legal team provided evidence of her injury by presenting a photo in the courtroom. Regardless, the image was shot down by the judge due to her not showing up on time for the trial.
Meanwhile, Depp’s lawyers claim that the timeline of the photo does not correspond to Heard’s accusations.
Here is everything you need to know.
The photo of Amber Heard’s bloody lip was denied by the court
Amber Heard has been under scrutiny since her libel trial with Johnny Depp began on April 11.
Heard countersued Depp after he filed a defamation lawsuit against Heard and claimed that she physically abused him.
At trial, Heard claimed that Depp allegedly punched her in the mouth during one of their fights.
She said: ‘I was in one of these fights. I think it’s this one, in your central ECB. We call it a loft. We were in the kitchen living room when he backhanded me.
She further testified: ‘And you know he (Depp) wears a lot of rings. I remember feeling like my lip went into my teeth and kept some blood on the wall. Simple as that, a little blood on the wall.

According to Heard, after the alleged fight, he took a photo with a cut lip. The actress is seen holding a note that says “I will return xxx”. In her testimony, Heard claimed it was the note Depp left behind after their fight.
Heard’s legal team wanted to present the same photo, but Depp’s lawyer objected. He said Heard’s attorney had not produced the photo during the discovery phase of the case.
The judge agreed with Depp’s lawyers. Therefore, the photo was never provided as evidence.
Depp’s legal team further says the photo is from 2012. However, according to Heard’s witness statement, the first violent incident took place in 2013, a year after the alleged bloody lip photo was taken.
Meanwhile, a source close to Heard has stated that the Aquaman actress crashed her dates after her UK case, and records from her therapist indicate Depp’s abuse began in 2012.
Regardless, the highly publicized trial of Johnny vs. Amber is currently on a one week hiatus. It will resume on May 16.
