Amber Heard claimed Johnny Depp headbutted her in December 2015

Following her explosive domestic abuse charges against Johnny Depp in court last week, every element of Amber Heard’s testimony has been dissected on social media, including whether or not her injuries were caused by altercations with her ex-husband.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star is suing Heard for defamation over an op-ed he wrote for The Washington Post in 2018 about domestic abuse. She is countersuing for damages of $100 million.

Heard said Depp headbutted her during an altercation in December 2015 when he testified in court on May 5.

Amber Heard’s accusations that she was a victim of domestic violence when she married Johnny Depp sparked controversy online. Some speculated that her injuries were caused by physical altercations with her ex-husband, which raised eyebrows.

Depp fans have been actively posting messages online suggesting the bruises on Heard’s face are the result of cosmetic treatments rather than fights.

After her testimony on May 5, a Twitter user tweeted two photos for comparison: one of a woman with botox bruises and the other of a close-up photograph of Heard.

Amber Heard testified on May 5 that Depp head-butted her during a physical altercation in December 2015. She claimed that Depp hit her repeatedly and yelled at her, “I hate you.”

Photos of Amber Heard were revealed in court as she testified a few days after the alleged altercation. She said that she had to hide her injuries and put ice on her swollen face so no one would notice.

Fans also took to social media to claim that Heard was not a victim of abuse, comparing her photo to Rihanna’s.

Amber Heard’s comments drew the ire of a plastic surgeon.

Dr. Dan Dhunna, a London cosmetic surgeon, spoke to Newsweek about the setting. He explained that determining the origin of bruises is difficult because several factors can cause them.

Some of the photos, depending on the aesthetic doctor, may resemble a pattern created by filler therapy.

In 2015, Amber Heard and Johnny Depp got married. However, Heard filed for divorce and a temporary restraining order against the star a year later.

In a 2018 op-ed for The Washington Post alleging domestic abuse, the Pirates of the Caribbean star sued Heard for defamation. She is seeking $100 million in damages.
